About Port Scanning

Open Port

An open port accepts TCP connections. It usually indicates a service is listening on that port.

Closed/Filtered Port

A closed port rejects connections, while a filtered port drops packets (often due to a firewall).

Common Ports

80 (HTTP), 443 (HTTPS), 21 (FTP), 22 (SSH), 25 (SMTP), 3306 (MySQL).
