About PDF Protection
User password vs. owner password
The user password is required to open the PDF. The owner password controls permission settings and administrative access. You can keep them the same or set different values.
AES-256 or RC4
AES-256 is the recommended modern option for strong PDF protection. RC4 is included for legacy compatibility with older readers and workflows.
Permission restrictions
You can allow or restrict actions such as printing, copying, editing, and annotating. These settings help define how recipients can use the document.
Local encryption only
The PDF is encrypted entirely inside your browser. Sensitive files stay on your device throughout the process.
