About Shoe Sizing
International Size Systems
Different countries use different shoe sizing systems. The CN (Chinese) system is similar to EU. EU sizes are based on Paris Points (2/3 cm). UK sizes are based on barleycorns (1/3 inch) starting from 0. US sizes differ for men and women, with women's sizes typically running 1.5 sizes larger than men's for the same foot length.
How to Measure Your Foot
For accurate measurement: stand on a piece of paper and trace your foot outline. Measure from heel to the longest toe (usually the big toe or second toe). Measure both feet and use the larger measurement. Measure in the afternoon or evening when feet are slightly larger. Add 0.5–1 cm to your measured length for comfort fit.
Width and Fit
Shoe width is not standardized internationally. Common US/UK width codes: N/2A (narrow), M/B (medium/regular), W/D (wide), XW/2E (extra wide). EU shoes typically come in one width. Many brands offer wider options. A shoe that fits in length but not width can cause blisters, bunions, and toe problems over time.
Online Shopping Tips
When buying shoes online, always check the specific brand's size chart as sizes vary between manufacturers. Read reviews about whether a brand runs small or large. If between sizes, size up for athletic shoes (you need room for foot expansion during exercise). For dress shoes and sandals, you can usually size down. Keep the receipt for exchanges.
