About IP Addresses
IPv4
IPv4 addresses are 32-bit numbers, typically shown as four octets (e.g. 192.168.1.1). There are approximately 4.3 billion possible addresses.
IPv6
IPv6 addresses are 128-bit numbers, shown as eight groups of four hex digits (e.g. 2001:0db8:85a3::8a2e:0370:7334). The address space is vastly larger than IPv4.
Testing Use
Random IP addresses are commonly used for testing network configurations, firewalls, logging systems, and data anonymization.
